2017 Villars Lead World Cup Semis highlights
To call this highlights could be seen as an exaggeration, there were few moments of drama in a semi-finals where climber after climber fell around the same height.
In the womens field we had a reasonable split over the round with Jain Kim and young Italian star Laura Rogora falling going to the final hold with both Janja Garnbret and Anak Verhoeven falling just a couple of moves lower.
In the guys it was the job of young Ukrainian climber Fedir Samoilov to save the day after more than half the field had fallen within the space of two holds.
Changing conditions during the round made things tough as well with the earlier climbers faced with holds baking in the sun before the wall came into the shade for the top qualifiers. This was lest than ideal and seemingly easily avoided as they could’ve moved the start back an hour or so.
A full album will come, for now here is a selection of photos from the round.
