Briancon 2017 Lead World Cup Finals
After a difficult start to the season where the routesetters really struggled to get the right balance between letting the climbers get high on the wall, while not just topping out with ease, Briancon got it right!
For the climbers, held in isolation due to a rain delay before the start, there had to be the fear of a repeat of a Chamonix like soft round or a World Games Bottle neck. Once the climbing began though it was clear the setters had got the job done and we were seeing some great fights as the climbers progressed up the wall.
With its fantastic, relaxed yet professional feeling, Briancon set it self as the top competition of the season so far, just edging the season opener in Villars.
And of course we saw the same winners as in Villars with Romain Desgranges and Janja Garnbret taking top step on the podium once again, gaining valuable points for the overall.
