The Circuit Female breakthrough climber of 2016, Elena Krasovskaya
With the Olympics only a few short years away a new breed of climber is starting to assert themselves in competition climbing. The true, balanced all-rounders.
At the forefront of this generation, the best of the best is the 16 Year old Russian Elena Krasovskaya.
Perhaps overlooked but some in the shadow of Janja Garnbret, Elena has established herself as one of the best in her own quiet way.
Going into World Championships in Paris few beyond those who followed the EYC’s had heard of Elena, but those who had knew she would be hard to beat in the combined. Day after day of confident and assured climbing saw Elena clinch the senior combined title, and make the finals in bouldering. A huge feat for an all-rounder having to fight through the cumulative fatigue of a week of competing!
Elena backed this up with the combined title in Youth Worlds as well, her balanced approach seeing her scoring high in every discipline even though she looked absolutely spent by the Bouldering final. One of only a few athletes to make finals in all three disciplines she took home the Youth World title to put on the shelf beside her adult trophy.
Elena is our breakthrough female climber of 2016 and must already be on many peoples shortlist for Olympic selection!
