World Games 2017 Poland, Speed Qualifications
Ok, now I’ve got through the Briancon work its time to get back to the World Games that happened the weekend prior in Poland.
For this set I focused on both the behind the scenes action to really show the backstage feel of a top level competition and the runs themselves.
With no lift access for the climbing it was going to be tricky to get the shot selection I wanted so it was time to focus on something a bit different.
Speed is different (obviously) to lead and boulder with no real isolation as the climbers know the wall and what to expect. It’s a massively tough mental game, knowing that you’re climbing for perfection as a slip or break in rhythm can equal an early shower and a depressed afternoon watching finals from the sidelines.
One thing you will see in the action shots is the paint breakup on the right lane, this ended up really effecting some athletes as they plant their foot on the wall there to make the move. Thankfully it was rectified for finals!
Enjoy, share, and always remember, The Circuit Climbing Media is always there, getting the shots so in years to come you’ll have something to remember these events by!
